A restored 1878 church , a sun-filled glasshouse and recipes from Nonna's kitchen .
Quarter Two was created by the brothers behind Essendon's Coffee Qtr, inside the old red-brick church on Gladstone Street in Moonee Ponds.
The building has been restored with care: Gothic arches and brickwork outside, timber ceilings and a bright glasshouse dining room inside, and a covered terrace strung with festoon lights. By day it's a busy, sunny cafe for brunch, coffee and lunch. On Friday and Saturday nights it becomes Quarter Two by Night, an intimate Italian restaurant inspired by the warmth of their Nonna's kitchen.
Your regulars' tip: sit at table 12 and you can still spot the church's 1878 cornerstone in the glass courtyard.
